A Portable Weather Station is a highly integrated, easy-to-carry, and rapidly deployable automated meteorological observation device. It can provide real-time, accurate local meteorological data in areas not covered by traditional fixed weather stations, serving as a "take-anywhere" mini weather station for meteorological workers.
The emergence and development of such devices aim to address the pain points that traditional meteorological observation systems cannot solve.
When natural disasters (such as typhoons, heavy rains, flash floods, and forest fires) occur, meteorological data at the disaster site is crucial for directing rescue operations, assessing disaster conditions, and predicting disaster development. However, disasters often cause local fixed observation facilities to malfunction.
Portable weather stations can be quickly carried by rescue teams to the core disaster area, set up within minutes, and transmit real-time key data such as wind speed, wind direction, rainfall, and temperature, serving as the "eyes and ears" for emergency command.
Many professional activities (such as large-scale sports events, aerospace launches, scientific expeditions, military operations, and major engineering construction) have extremely high requirements for on-site, real-time microclimate environments. Data from fixed weather stations cannot accurately reflect meteorological conditions at specific locations and specific times. Portable weather stations can provide customized meteorological support services for these activities, such as ensuring suitable weather conditions for marathon starts or providing accurate wind field data for rocket launches.
The core sensors (temperature, humidity, pressure, wind speed and direction, rainfall, etc.), data loggers, power supply units, and communication modules of Portable Weather Stations are typically integrated into a lightweight main unit, with a total weight as light as a few kilograms, convenient for single-person carrying and transportation.
