The Visibility Detector is mainly a forward-scattering visibility meter, which is an important instrument for measuring visibility.
The transmitter and the receiver are kept at a certain distance and at a certain angle. The receiver only receives the forward-scattering light of the atmosphere. The transmitter emits infrared light pulses. After being scattered by atmospheric molecules and particulate matter, the receiver receives the scattered light in a fixed direction and converts it into electrical signals. The control processing unit processes these electrical signals and then retrieves the meteorological optical range.
Visibility can reflect the turbidity of the atmosphere and is crucial for judging weather phenomena such as fog and haze. It not only serves weather analysis in meteorological departments but also has a wide range of applications in transportation fields such as highways and aviation, as well as in the military field, providing important meteorological information for safe travel and military operations.
In terms of instrument structure, it mainly consists of a sensor (including a transmitter, a receiver, and a control processor), a collector (including an interface unit, a central processing unit, a storage unit, and a display unit), a support (a column and a base), a power supply (a power supply, a power lightning arrester, and a storage battery), and calibration equipment (composed of attenuation plates and scattering plates).
In terms of communication, it can use RS-232 or RS-485 interfaces and expand the communication distance by connecting external wireless transmission modules (such as GPRS, CDMA, etc.) to achieve multi-point transmission, facilitating the transmission and sharing of data so that various departments that need visibility data can obtain information in a timely manner. This instrument can effectively measure a variety of visibility data, such as automatic visibility, 1-minute average visibility value, 10-minute average visibility value, hourly minimum visibility, 10-minute sliding visibility, etc.
